FASHIONABLE FIRST LADY MICHELLE OBAMA

Recently, our First Lady Michelle Obama made an appearance at a Walgreen's in Chicago. She was encouraging the Mayor Rahm Emanuel to make healthy food available and affordable for people living in lower income level neighborhoods. And while I'm all about healthy and affordability, I was all about the Tracy Reese big bow sweater she was wearing! As usual, the FLOTUS looked amazing!

LITTLE GREEN DRESSES!

For the seamstresses or casual sewers, Tina Sparkes has written Little Green Dresses: 50 Original Patterns for Repurposed Dresses, Top, Skirts and More. I found it on www.amazon.com for $15.60.  Ms. Sparkles book isn't a book of all green dresses as I had hoped but "green" as in eco-friendly. It's for diy'ers who want to change up what they already own. The reviews about this book are varied, however the book received 10 five star ratings out of 18! The book is 256 pages, published by Taunton Press.

Have I read the book you ask...no I haven't but because I want to stretch my wardrobe, I plan to. Read the reviews and see what you think. If you're into eco-friendliness and saving our planet...you might want to check it out.

MORE GREENS!

I'm always on the lookout for anything affordable and green. Well this morning I happened to look at Old Navy's website and lo and behold I found some really affordable pieces. I need another coat or jacket like I need a hole in my head but I've got to get their green peacoat to wear when I start back to University of Memphis in January. Okay, the colors for UofM are blue and gray, but I'm sure a shock of color will be welcomed! (all pictures provided by oldnavy.com)

Old Navy 3/4 sleeve jersey top $26.94
Old Navy Wrap Front Dress $34.50
Old Navy Peacoat $69.50

Old Navy Satin Tank $29.94

HEEL CONDOMS AND HEEL PANTIES

Recently I told you about a product I had never seen on the market before, Heel Condoms! Such a novel idea I wonder why no one had thought of this before. Shoes have become my new obsession but I can't wear the stilettos seen on most of the models or in a lot of advertisements. I wanted to find something to dress up or change the look of some of the shoes I already had in my closet. I thought about painting them, gluing embellishments on them and even considered using duct tape to make designs on them! I was perusing the internet for a pair of shoes I needed in a particular color and stumbled upon Heel Condoms! Just think, such a simple and inexpensive way to wear your favorite and most comfortable shoes without appearing to wear the same shoes all the time.

In comes Sandrysabel Ortiz, the founder and creator of Heel Condoms. I contacted Ms. Ortiz to get answers to a couple of questions I had:

EO: When did you come up with this idea?
SO: I came up with it in March 2010 and launched the product in October 2010.

EO: Why did you come up with this idea?
SO: I was traveling a lot on the weekends and found it hard to fit all my shoes in a carry-on suitcase. So I thought “why not take just one basic pair and dress it up?”.

EO: Can the heel condoms be used on a shorter heel like 2 ¼?
SO: Absolutely! The Heel Panties you find in (www.heelcondoms.myshopify.com) do not have the heel part so they fit all heel widths.

EO: Are you the original designer of heel condoms?
SO: YES!

I would like to thank Sandrysabel Ortiz for taking a few minutes to talk to us. I'm so happy to find out about Heel Panties and Heel Condoms!  As soon as you can run...don't walk to www.heelcondoms.myshopify.com!

A FEW LOOKS FOR FALL

pic provided by google images

I'm so glad to see the tie neck shirts coming back! It's feels almost like wearing a dressier turtleneck. I'm looking to add one or two to my fall wardrobe, especially if I find one in green.
Speaking of green, I found some gorgeous dresses on modshop.com. I'd love to add one or two of these dresses to my wardrobe as well. What's your go to color for fall and winter?

BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA

I was in Birmingham last night to see Tyler Perry's The Haves and The Have Nots, and got a chance to peruse the styles of the fashionable women who attended. I saw a lot of short haircuts, skinny jeans and the highest wedge heels I've ever seen! If I could wear heels as high as those I saw, all of my money would be spent in shoes. Gorgeous! One lady who had obviously had foot surgery wore a surgical walking boot on the injured foot and a stiletto on the other! Talk about being true to the high heels! One lady who sat near me had on a red sheath dress with red pumps. Very classy look. I know, I know..why didn't I have my camera and release forms you ask.. we couldn't take camera equipment into the theater!
The Birmingham ladies had it going on! Good for you B'ham!

HELLO

I haven't been here in a while because I've been working on the third book in The LOVED TO DEATH Short Story Series. I received the purse today that I've been waiting on. It looked turquoise when I ordered it, but LO and BEHOLD it was more of a jade color and I absolutely love it! Usually you have to find a purse and shoes to match an outfit but in this case, I've got to find a dress to match my purse!

I've got to go back to my writing but wanted to say have a fantastic, fabulous and fashionable weekend!
